Flannel Love

Isn't winter warmer and cozier
with warm winter flannel?

I love flannel quilts!

So I am very excited to see all the cozy quiltiness
in the the New Year

@

You do not have to use flannel in your project.

Marian, our blog hop sponsor extraordinaire,
requires that
"must include some type of fabric that is not cotton.
Flannel, wool, corduroy, tweed, etc"
for your cozy project.

I hope to see you sewing and following along with us!

I have not started my project yet, as I am finishing up some other commitments and holiday sewing, but I have my project planned and have time to sew in January.

Happy Sewing!

Christmas Comes Early

Everly and her new quilt!

We have returned home to the chilly, snowy northeast.

We had a wonderful time in the chilly, rainy northwest.

While we were there Christmas came early
and my daughter set up her Christmas tree for
 "Grammy and Grampy Christmas."

Everly loves the tree and the ornaments.

Although most people think she is at least four years old
and she wears a little girl size five, Everly is just very tall for her age.
She is only two and a half and still needs to be encouraged
and helped to unwrap presents.

We set the quilty gift before her ...

... and Lamby danced on it ...

... Mater took a drive on it ...

the she wandered away and we had to follow her with the package ...

... and give the wrapping a rip ...

The colorful blocks did get her attention ... for a minute maybe ...

then she wandered away again ...

... so my daughter unwrapped a little more and unrolled the quilt and Mater caught her eye ...

"Tow Mater" is her favorite character ...

... so the panel fabric pleased her very much ...

... Everly's faithful friend Sierra loves quilts, too ...

Mater and Lighting McQueen had to explore the quilt, too ...

...and had fun driving around on it.

Everly sleeps cuddle in a Grammy quilt every nap and night
so I know she loves her quilts.
She sleeps under this one every night now.

Everly also drove her cars around the diecast cars garage we gave her.

Everly had fun with her new toys ...

The whole family got into the assembly act ...

that Grammy and Grampy gave Everly for her cars

"vroom ... vroom!"

Grammy and Grampy also got her a bigger car ...

... that she could drive ...

... foot powered ...

An Everly smile is worth a thousand words ... :-)

On Grammy and Grampy Christmas night
the rain held off and
we enjoyed the

We had a wonderful time visiting with Everly, Marissa and Matt.

Now we are Home Sweet Home.

Time to get my own home ready for Christmas and
catch up with some quilty commitments.

Have a happy holiday season!

Ruffled n Ready to Roll

My Disney "Cars" quilt is quilted and ruffled!

Close-up of the ruffle binding and flannel backing.

Ready to roll!

Now all I have to do is fit my nifty gifties in my suitcase.

That may be tricky.

I don't need clothes for two weeks, right?

Quilts first!

I can't wait to play cars with my beautiful grand-darling!

<3 ...  May you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving ... <3

I know I have much to be thankful for this year.

See you in December!

Here in My Scrapatch

I am quilting ...

and counting the days ...

until I deliver this quilt to ...

my beautiful grand-darling!

Her Mommy and Daddy are redoing her room
to reflect her love of Mater and McQueen.

This is one of the new wall decorations they bought for her room.

You see the little die cast Mater in her left hand?

Everly loves matching things.

I hope she loves her new quilt ...

Here is a the quilt top.

This is an easy row quilt made with a panel and some fabrics from my stash that
were leftovers from various cars quilts I have made.

Back to quilting ....

and packing!

Second Chance Challenge

I started the

Here ... with the best intentions
and really enjoyed making the blocks.
Then I fell hopelessly behind, Here
while I was staying with my daughter.

I have made a few blocks since then but have not been able to catch up.

Fortunately, there is a second chance to complete this challenge.

I shall begin again in the New Year.

My Time to Get Eerie ~ Eerie Nights Blog Hop

Here is my new  "Happy Halloween" Banner!

It is a SNAP!

I have been wanting to make a banner for the archway in my living/dining area
to add to my seasonal quilty decorations.

I knew now was the time, when this fun blog hop was announced  ...

My fabrics are mostly

and some other coordinating fabrics from my stash.

Here are the pieces to the puzzle.

I used Heat n Bond to fuse my applique letters.

The letters were enlarged from a free pattern

blogged Here.

I appliqued the banner letters to the cute candy corn fabrics,
alternating light and black backgrounds.

Then I sandwiched and sewed together.
leaving an opening to turn right side out.

Then I topstitched around the edges with orange thread,
taking care to stitch the opening closed.
Then I pressed my pennant flags flat.

I cut long 2.5" strips of Kona snow, folded in half and made a tube,
turned it right side out and pressed
and topstitched 1/4" from either side to keep it flat.

I chose the white strap and white snaps to attach the triangular pennants
so that I could use the strap again for
other holidays and special occasions.
The white blends in well with the trim paint on my arch.

I used my Babyville Boutique Snap Plier to attach the snaps.

This snap plier is very easy to use and there are good instructions for use.

Here is the banner on my archway ...

The plan is to snap off the Halloween letters and snap on
other holiday greetings,
or even a cheery happy birthday for a special day.

Here is the back of my banner.

I am already thinking of my "Merry Christmas" banner
with a few hanging ornaments.

For another fun quilty project made with my snap pliers

As always, Katniss was my helper and she carefully inspected my work along the way ...

This banner is quilty kitty approved!
