I have been looking for the perfect project for these fabrics
and this is the one.

I have completed all but one of my January Quilty Goals.

I am feeling pretty good about that.

On to February!

Happy sewing!

Spark Scrap Quilt Block

The Spark Block

This is the alternate block in my ...

Court and Spark Scrap Quilt

These are both blocks,
Court on the left and Spark on the right.

The tutorial for the Court Block may be found Here

The center of the Spark Block is made
with the cutoff corners of the Court Block,
using the above method.

These HST measure 1 and 3/4 inches,
just trimming the dogears.

Press seams in alternate directions and nest seams.

The center unit measures 3 inches.

To frame the center I cut 3 and 1/4 inches by
width of fabric strips.

Here is the cutting for one block:

Four 1.75" HST or squares (pieced together)

or 3" square

Two 3" by 3.25" rectangles

and

Two 8.5" by 3.25" rectangles

Sew one 3" by 3.25" rectangle on opposite sides of center unit
and press outward.

Sew one 8.5" by 3.35" rectangle on opposite sides of the
center strip and press outward.

Block measures 8.5 inches square, unfinished.

I drew these blocks and a layout up on EQ
(after I sewed the blocks)

EQ image of the Spark Block

Here is the layout for this quilt
alternating the two blocks.

This quilt calls for 40 of each block
for a total of 80 blocks.

For 8" finished blocks,
the center of this quilt will measure
66" by 82"

I added a two inch border to the center in this layout.

I am making a

with these blocks so my quilt will have multicolored blocks.

Linking up a day late to

I have not been feeling well for the last few days.
My hubby had what may or may not have been the flu last week and
I may have it now.
So I have not been sewing much.
Hope to feel better soon as
I have a lot of quilty commitments.

Missing my happy place.

Hope you are enjoying good health and good sewing this weekend.

Red and White Clementine Quilt Along Block 1

My Red and White Clementine

I am sewing along to make this beautiful quilt!

I love this pattern!

This is for the

@
The Jolly Jabber

So much that I am making two quilts.

Above is the large Watermelon Block
in the scrappy red fabrics from my stash.
I am using Kona White for the background of the blocks
in this quilt.

The little Broken Dishes blocks were made with the cutaways.

The piecing instructions called for drawing lines, sewing and then cutting the corners.

Drawing lines is not my favorite thing to do.
It is the only "piecing pet peeve" that I have.
I think it derives from my vision issues.
I have a difficult time seeing and sewing on the lines.
I have tried a variety of marking pens and pencils over the years
but have never found anything that works for me.

So I always find an alternative method.

This my personally preferred method:

I carefully place the corner square on the main fabric unit
on a cutting board on my sewing table.

Using a 1/4 inch ruler, cut away the corner.

Then I chain piece the triangles and main units.

I love chain piecing!

I also like to sew those little HST into little blocks
for my 15 minutes of play at the end of each session.
Snip the doggy ears and sew!

I find this method fun, fast and very accurate.

I Heart Fabric!

I <3 Fabric!

Sew I am sewing for the ...

@

I have a small stash of Valentine and heart themed fabrics,
some old, some newer,
some left from previous projects,
some never opened.

All well fondled.

What shall I choose?

Deciding on a project proved even more difficult.

My quilty muse had too many ideas and changed directions a few times.

Maestro finally said, "No more thinking! Time to choose, cut and sew!"

"Do I have to do this myself?
Here is a bobbin.  We need pink thread.
Get to work!"

Thanks, Maestro.
I am sewing.

Maestro says, " Let me help."

Ah, Maestro, we need that fabric.

Um ... more "help" has arrived.

Nutmeg is sew helpful.

The kitties and I are are making progress.

Really ... we are!

Maestro says, "No more peeking!"

Yes, Maestro.

Please come back on the first day of the hop
to see what we have made.

:-)

A New Fabric Bundle!

Don't you just love receiving a new wrapped bundle and opening
and unfolding and fondling the crisp new fabric
and savoring the colors and prints?

Maestro also loves new fabric bundles
and took time out of her ever present bobbin hunting
to pull the bow open.

Katniss also had to examine and give her quilty kitty approval
of these fine fabrics.

These fabrics are gorgeous!

They are from the Mama's Cottage collection
by April Rosenthal
for Moda Fabrics.

This is my

Clementine Quilt Along Bundle

from the Fat Quarter Shop.
